Belize Audubon Society in collaboration with IICA and Agriculture Depart are implementing a biogas digester pilot project for small farmers. The project will start by training the trainers to install the low cost biogas digesters in the selected farms. Belize Audubon Society is sponsoring three farmers, from around the wetlands of Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary, with both training and materials for the biogas digester . This is being made possible through the Wetlands Campaign “Crooked Tree Wetlands supports us; as we develop, let’s keep it intact” being implemented with support from National Aududon Society and Rare Pride.
Belize Audubon Society’s community liaison officer, Mr. Lucito Ayuso will help farmers to install their digesters and will be key in following up with the progress and successes of the pilot project. If you would like to contribute to the installation of other biogas digesters, contact us at the Belize Audubon Society education@belizeaudubon.org or outreach@belizeaudubon.org.
